Bible (blue) 2

In the Beginning was the Word...

Reading the bible online is pretty simple. You just google "Bible" and start reading. But how do I pick from hundreds of translations out there, and how do I know if I'm reading a Catholic bible? Search engines like Google don't always give you the answers you're looking for, and even print bibles might leave you with the same questions.

This page provides a simple guide for finding the bible online and choosing the right translation for you. The easiest way to insure you're reading a Catholic bible with a good translation is to go to the U.S. Catholic bishops' website. Here you can read the New American Bible translation (the one we use at mass), and you can search through any book you want or you can read the daily readings.

If you're looking for more variety, you can also check out some other good online versions. The New Jerusalem Bible offers a Catholic version in a more readable translation for people today, and the New Revised Standard Version presents a modern translation that is non-denominational.
